June Lake Brewing
Hoppy New Year! That's right, we've all made it to 2016 without a zombie invasion, or all of the computers in the world shutting down on the stroke of midnight. As for the JLB crew, we're doing what we always do: namely making Super Awesome Beer and getting outside. If you haven't had either of these in your life recently, we highly encourage you to come by and partake. In fact as your quasi spiritual council I deem it a moral imperative you stop whatever less important thing you're doing right now and meet us at the JLB Tasting Room for beer shots (after shredding the gnar of course). On the beer front we've got the GullllLager lagering away nicely in FV3, and it should be ready for re-release into the wild mid February. If you missed it last year, the GullllLager is the only lager beer we make. We start out with a super clean and light (color and flavor) traditional American lager with a grain bill split 50/50 between 2-Row Pale and Pilsner malts, we then hop the delicate beauty with a moderate amount of Cascade hops before sending it off to the fermentor to meet up with White Labs American Lager Yeast (WLP 840). This is the point where the Gulllllager deviates from any preconceived, or acknowledged beer style... Basically we dryhop the ever living shit out of it with almost two pounds per barrel of Falconer's Flight 7c blend. These hops do not impart bitterness to the finished beer, oh contraire... By adding these crazy good hops after fermentation all of the luscious fruit, citrus and piney flavors are unlocked and showcased for all to see. On the event tip, tickets for the 4th Annual June Lake Autumn Beer Festival to be held on Saturday October 1st (actually an Oktoberfest this year!) have gone on sale, so GET YOURS NOW as this event will surely sellout months before. This is a small intimate event and we intend to keep it that way, so if you want to come to June Lake, enjoy some of the best craft beer from the West Coast, and basically have a most excellent time, buy your tickets now. Until next time, Stay Awesome! Thanks and Cheers! Sarah/Justin
