Shirts are Here ~

That's right we've got shirts, stainless growlers, cups, and all the other accouterments in stock.  Tragically we're not setup for ecommerce at this point, and are seriously working ~12+ hours per day, so the logistical reality of filling one-off mail orders isn't viable (unless you want Justin to stop making beer...).  So sorry, but we feel beer is more important than swag.

Speaking of beer, the Hutte Double IPA will be released into the wild this Friday at 11am!  So for those missing a huge hopped beer in their lives, come on by for 9.5% abv of hopalicious pallet anihilation.  Also in beer news we'll be brewing our Mammoth Rock n' Dirt Milk Stout this Saturday, so expect some dirty brown lactose laden goodness available on nitro in about a month.

Also on the beer front we've finally received our ABC approved 12oz bottle labels and we're selling bottled beer!  Get down to Mammoth Liquors (Home of over 200 Beers), Fern Creek Market, or of course the JLB Tasting Room to get yours while they last.  Due to the near extortion level pricing of the glass, labels, caps, holders, boxes and the time/labor/beer loss involved in packaging by hand, it is unknown when we'll be able to bottle again.  So boogie over to the aforementioned purveyors of awesomeness to get a piece for yourself.

With the DH season approaching a close the JLB TestPilot Team is in rare form and should take some top spots at the last Village Championship DH race on Kamikaze this Friday (come on out and Heckle for some Hutte DIPA), not to mention the Kamikaze Bike Games September 18th - 21st.

Aside from that we've got some crazy beers coming down the pipeline and can't wait to see you on the trail, or in the tasting room.

Cheers!
Justin/Sarah

Bonzai!

Wow, Mammoth Mountain Kamikaze Games was friggin amazing!  Our JLB DH TestPilots where dropping podiums left and right, and holding it down for the Eastern Sierras.  Big shout outs to JLB TestPilot Johnny "Nipple" Kimball with a first place in the Cat2 division of the Kamikaze 2.0 race on Friday, and then another first place Saturday in the Cat2 DH race on Follow Me.  Come next year Johnny will be looking to get his pro card and send it with the best of them.  Also props go to Johnny Widen, Thomas "Alex" McCoy, and the rest of the JLB cats holding it down.  Check the visual evidence for a taste of the complete gravitational domination (to the right and below), and be there next year!

We're moving forward with our quest for a location, and we're excited for our October 10th hearing with the Mono County Planning Commission.  If you're in the Mammoth area Thursday October 10th, please come by the County Offices and show your support.  Once the Planning Commission weighs in we hope to move forward with our permitting process and begin our renovations to make our location the most awesomest brewery/beer tasting establishment that June Lake has ever seen!

On the beer front we're pushing forward with planning for the 1st Annual June Lake Autumn Beer Festival on October 5th, so get your reservations lined up cuz our brewery lineup is pretty sweet!

Cheers!
Justin/Sarah

Harvest Time in the Sierra~

With the end of summer approaching it's hop picking time in the Northern Hemisphere!  And of course that means this year's batch of Northern Hemi fresh (aka wet) hop beers are currently being brewed across the country.  Hops are basically a weed that bud a flower once a year, but despite the veracity of the plant the flower is rather fragile and is only optimal for harvest over about a two week period each year.  Additionally once harvested the lupulin, volitile oils and other super awesome stuff that makes fabulous beer begin to dissipate.  With this in mind the ideal wet hop beer is made the same day the hops are picked.

So we gathered up TestPilot MariBeth and little Natty and ventured out to Banner Springs Ranch organic hop and vegetable farm near Benton Crossing to pick fresh Cascade hops with our good friends from Mammoth Brewing Company.  After picking our fill we pitched in and helped pick hops for MBC, and their forth coming wet harvest beer for this year.  Heading back home we fired up our homebrew system and busted out a killer XPA (aka all day IPA).  Basically this beer is a lighter alcohol IPA, but don't let the lower alcohol fool you, this beast has almost six pounds of fresh organic Cascade hops packed into the one barrel batch.  So it's a single hop beer (meaning we only used one type of hops for the bittering, flavor and aroma hop additions), made with fresh (less than four hours old) locally grown Cascade hops.  We don't really have a name that we're fond of yet, so let us know what you think on our Facebook page - Name that XPA.

Last Friday was the last Mammoth Village Championship Downhill race and our riders didn't disappoint with TestPilot 00 Jimmy Lim catching a podium spot, and three of our other boys in the top ten.  Tragically with the end of summer comes the closing of the Mammoth Mountain bikepark... le sigh...  But don't fret just yet, it should be open until early October, and with the Kamakaze Downhill Games slated for the first week of September we're pretty pumped up to see our DH TestPilot Team show up and put up some smoking fast times.  If you can make it, be here.

Lastly on the location front we're slated to have our use permit for our proposed location presented to the Mono County Planning Commission on October 10th, and have been working closely with the Planning Department, Building Department, Public Utilities Department, Fire Marshal and everyone else involved to ensure we properly address all concerns and can make JLB a reality.  So what that means is after we hear from the Planning Commission, we can hopefully obtain a conditional use permit, and move forward with the needed building renovations before it gets too snowy.

That's all for now, thanks for the continued support, and don't forget to get here for the 1st Annual June Lake Autumn Beer Festival on October 5th.

Cheers!

Justin/Sarah
